All students enrolled in courses using Canvasare required to complete a one-time onlineorientation to Canvas, the Learning Management System used for Online, Hybrid, and Enhancedcourses. This self-paced orientation is available inCanvas within 24 hours of a student registering for courses and should be completed prior to the start of classes. On average the Orientation should take approximately two hours. Students can access theirCanvas courses on the first day of class onlyif the orientation has been completed.

Taking the Canvas Student Orientation

  1. NetID/Password – To log intoCanvas and take theCanvas Student Orientation you will need to know your NetID and password. To get these, you will need to
  2. Log into use your NetID for your Canvas username and your NetID password as your Canvas password.
  3. Taking the Canvas Orientation – After you log into Canvas, click on the Student Orientation” course on your dashboard. To start taking the Orientation click on “Start Here” in the “Getting Started” Module. You will then need to work your way through each of the Learning Modules, in order, until you complete the Wrap-Up Module.. Once you complete the Final Review in the Wrap-Up Module you are finished with the Orientation.

Some of the topics covered in the Orientation include information on how to be successful in an Online Learning course, how to get your computer ready to use Canvas, and navigating and using Canvas for your coursework.
